Bus Trip:
The Magic of Glass Sold Out

June 3, 2014 8:30 am 5:30 pm

Immerse yourself in the beauty of glass. Start with a visit to the Kalamazoo Institute of Arts to see the Tiffany Glass: Painting with Color and Light exhibition. Learn about this renowned turnof- the-20th century artist and his vibrant colors, richly varied patterns and innovative, opalescent flat glass. Then relax over a delicious deli-style lunch at Bell’s Eccentric Café, perhaps with a glass of craft beer!

After lunch proceed to the studio of Gloria Badiner, a distinguished glass artist who began her career as a scientist. Learn about working with “fusible” glass and how to use specialized tools. Then use mottled, “streaky” and iridized glass to create a Tiffany-inspired nightlight. Create a design and construct a small glass panel which will be fused in a kiln. After cooling, the panel will be mounted to a nightlight base and delivered to Meijer Gardens at a later date.

On the way home enjoy stopping at an antique shop to investigate historical glass and other objects. The trip fee includes admission, transportation, lunch, gratuities, art instruction and all art materials. Be prepared to navigate a few steps. Call 975-3147 for more information.
