Meijer Gardens develops and enjoys ongoing, collaborative relationships with the sculptors whose work is found in the permanent collection. A new dimension of that relationship is on view in the exhibition, Highly Recommended: Emerging Sculptors. Working closely with the recommendations of many of the established artists in the permanent collection, the talents of a promising new generation of sculptors have been chosen to form this unique group exhibition.

Overview

Meijer Gardens develops and enjoys ongoing, collaborative relationships with the sculptors whose work is found in the permanent collection. A new dimension of that relationship is on view in the exhibition, Highly Recommended: Emerging Sculptors. Working closely with the recommendations of many of the established artists in the permanent collection, the talents of a promising new generation of sculptors have been chosen to form this unique group exhibition.

As a result of this inventive curatorial approach, Meijer Gardens continues to engage audiences with the permanent collection and our commitment to new modes of expression. Sixteen artists from Europe, the United States and the Middle East have been carefully selected to showcase work in a wide variety of material, from the traditions of bronze and steel, to the innovative use of light and copper wire. In addition, both abstract and figurative works are featured, at both intimate and expansive scales. The exhibition surveys the complexities and diversity of sculpture today through the innovative efforts of developing sculptors.

Once again, Meijer Gardens is honored to serve as an exhibition center for ArtPrize. Although Highly Recommended: Emerging Sculptors runs through January 4, 2015, it proudly serves as our ArtPrize Exhibition, September 24 through October 12, 2014. Each of the artists featured in the exhibition is also a registered ArtPrize artist.
