A desert rose is a naturally occurring stone formation and the inspiration for this piece. Italian-born Arnaldo Pomodoro began his career creating theater sets, costumes, and jewelry before tuning to large scale sculpture. Disk in the Form of a Desert Rose reveals the interior as well as the exterior components of polished forms.
