Torso of Summer
Maillol combines very classical Greek and Asian-Indian approaches to the female figure portraying traditional poses with a smooth finish. This piece is part of an allegory on the four seasons. Torso of Summer symbolizes the fullness and fertility of summer. Notice the rounded forms of the figure.
