This large granite carving by Anish Kapoor is one of but a few outdoor stone pieces by the internationally acclaimed sculptor. While the back and side panels are carved at varying degrees of roughness, the frontal plane features three, highly polished circular disks which reflect the surrounding environment with mirror precision. Kapoor's sensitivity to materials and ability to search and discover the potential of that material is universally celebrated. Such exploration of materials, and surfaces which encourage reflection and introspection, are in sympathy with the aesthetics of the design for the Richard and Helen DeVos Japanese Garden.
