Among the most remarkable works in this collection are drawings made in relationship to some of Pepper's most impressive public projects. Among the most iconic is this pair for the famed Denver Monoliths, which are featured at the entrance to the Denver Art Museum. Although these drawings are a fraction of the size of the sculpture, Pepper has imbued them with the sense of monumentality. Whereas the denser drawing explores issues of volume and mass, the more linear work effectively explores contour and plane.
