Acrylic Heirloom Still Life

Bring a favorite plate, pitcher, vase or bowl with a simple design to use in your own still life arrangement. Create the composition, incorporating spring flowers and our extra props. Then use vibrant acrylic paints to capture your personal still life. This is a two session class - the second session is on Thursday, May 15.

Build a Garden in a Box

Full Class

Have fun building a garden in a box together. Construct a simple 2’ X 2’ wooden box and fill it with soil. Divide the box into four areas and plant with seeds and starter plants. Leave with an instant garden and tend it together all summer long!

Venture outdoors to capture the beauty of our waterfalls, and discover the versatility of watercolor pencils. Learn about composition, shading and blending, layering colors from subtle to intense, and achieving fine detail. Be prepared to walk a quarter mile to and from the waterfalls. In inclement weather, the class will be held indoors.

Living Herb and Flower Wreath

Using a metal wreath base, sheet moss, potting soil and a variety of herbs and flowers, each class member will make a living wreath to enjoy at home. Choose from an assortment of variegated thyme, creeping rosemary, chocolate mint, polka dot plant, dusty miller, Vick’s plant, purple and white alyssum, marigolds and begonias.

Have fun with sculpture experiences most kids don’t get! Go “behind the scenes” to see where sculpture is stored and play a game of Sculpture Eye-spy. Hold a real piece of Chihuly glass in your hands, wax a giant hoof of The American Horse and be surprised by what Cabin Creek is made out of. Then create your own horse sculpture using wire and plaster.

Hanging Herb Basket

Put together a hanging planter containing culinary herbs including basil, thyme, sage, parsley, rosemary and chive. Receive tips on proper watering, feeding and pruning to ensure your container will thrive. Find a sunny spot outside your kitchen door and you’re ready to snip as needed. (The May 28th class is full.)

Think Small! Gardens in Miniature

Create a garden in miniature that can be enjoyed on a table on your patio or deck. Learn which plants work best for miniature gardens and receive tips that will help it flourish. Use natural materials and make a tiny trellis, fence or furniture for your garden then personalize with your own embellishments from home. Bring your own container (approximately 12” x 5” deep) and we will provide the potting soil, plants and guidance.
