Gwen Frostic Woodland Shade Garden

Plants that provide year-round interest and perform best in shady conditions.

Named for Michigan native Gwen Frostic, the Woodland Shade Garden portrays examples of this artist's favorite subjects, indigenous plants and animals. Spring provides a fresh palate of color when native trout lilies, daffodils, wildflowers and flowering shrubs burst into bloom. Tall trees provide a canopy of shade in summer months when hydrangeas, hostas and fringed bleeding hearts offer a feast for the eyes.
