Lena’s Garden

Internationally renowned glass artist Dale Chihuly is celebrated for his dazzling installations and exhibitions.

Lena’s Garden is a major site-specific work commissioned by Meijer Gardens that stretches above and across more than 60 feet of the James & Shirley Balk Café. Comprised of dozens of individual blown glass elements from his Persian series, the compositional spectrum of color and the curving stainless steel armature on which these elements are attached was a first for the artist. Upon completion of the work, Chihuly named the piece in honor of Lena Meijer whose love of flowers is well-known.
