Frederik Meijer Gardens & Sculpture Park is proud to be an accessible facility—one that incorporates Universal Design and meets and exceeds ADA regulations.
Indoor and outdoor spaces are barrier-free, with ramps and paved pathways to accommodate wheelchairs and strollers and allow easy maneuverability. Complimentary wheelchairs and Electric Convenience Vehicles (ECVs) are available inside the Welcome Center. Wheelchairs and ECVs are available on a first-come, first-served basis. Please see a staff member or volunteer for assistance.

Wheelchairs, Strollers, Electric Convenience Vehicles:

Personal motorized wheelchairs, electric scooters and wheelchairs are welcome. Complimentary wheelchairs and Electric Convenience Vehicles (ECVs) are available inside the Welcome Center. Frederik Meijer Gardens & Sculpture Park retains a limited number of wheelchairs and ECVs for guests to use on a first-come, first-served basis. Please see a staff member or volunteer for assistance.
Service Animals
Guide dogs and other trained service animals are welcome at Meijer Gardens. Emotional support animals, companion animals, comfort animals, and pets are not recognized as service animals and are not permitted. Service animals are permitted in compliance with the American with Disabilities Act (ADA). If a service animal’s behavior becomes a threat to the safety or well-being of other visitors, the handler may be asked to remove the service animal from the premises.
Emotional support animals and companion animals, comfort animals, and pets are not allowed.
Parking
Accessible parking spaces are located near the main entrance in Lots A & B.

Four public elevators are available to access both levels of the building.
Restrooms and Changing Tables
All restrooms are accessible and offer changing tables. Gender-Neutral/Family/Companion Assist restrooms are located throughout multiple locations; please see a staff member or volunteer for assistance.
Private Rooms
Rooms are available on both levels of the main building for nursing parents and visitors seeking a quiet space.
Exploring Meijer Gardens by Tram
Meijer Gardens tram tours are accessible. For assistance, please check at the Peter C. & Emajean Cook Transportation Center.
Sensory-friendly location and hours
Visitors seeking quieter spaces are encouraged to visit the indoor Sculpture Galleries, The Richard & Helen DeVos Japanese Garden, Gwen Frostic Woodland Shade Garden, and pathways throughout the Sculpture Park. Less busy times tend to occur Monday through Saturday between 9 and 10 am or after 4 pm, and Sunday after 4 pm.
American Sign Language (AsL)
American Sign Language interpretation can be scheduled for any tour, program or event with a minimum of two weeks’ advance notice. Requests on shorter notice are accommodated if possible. Please contact our Guest Relations Department or email hello@meijergardens.org for arrangements.
Closed Captioning
Closed captioning is available for select films and all major lectures.
Induction loop
David & Carol Van Andel Children’s Gallery, Garden Pavilion, Hoffman Family Auditorium, O-A-K Theater, Covenant Learning Center Classrooms, and all event rooms are equipped with induction/hearing loops.
Printed copies of tour scripts are available upon request.
Touchable sculpture
A list of touchable sculptures for individuals who are blind or low vision is available at the Daniel and Pamella DeVos Ticketing Center.
