This 8-foot bronze was originally created in plaster by artist Nina Akamu as the master model for the colossal American Horse. At this scale, the sculptor was able to address every aspect of the form, from overall shape and stance to details of mane and tale. Once completed, the plaster figure was translated to the 24-foot scale of the American Horse and, following, cast into bronze as a permanent work in its own right.
