Lena’s Garden
Internationally renowned glass artist Dale Chihuly is celebrated for his dazzling installations and exhibitions.
Lena’s Garden, a major site-specific work commissioned by Meijer Gardens, stretches above and across 60 feet of the James & Shirley Balk Café. Comprising dozens of individual blown glass elements from the artist’s Persian series, the compositional spectrum of color and the curving stainless steel armature to which these elements are attached was a first for Chihuly. Upon completion of the work, he named the piece in honor of Lena Meijer, whose love of flowers is widely known.
