Marshall Fredericks
The Boy and the Bear
Located in the Lena Meijer Children’s Garden, The Boy and the Bear was the first piece that Marshall Fredericks designed to be placed in a shopping mall – a popular event in the 1950s and 1960s. Our cast of the sculpture is made of bronze, which can withstand the harsh winters and hot summers of West Michigan. Notice the bulk of the bear compared to the almost emaciated figure of the boy.
