This 2,500-square-foot exhibition in the David & Carol Van Andel Children’s Gallery is a bold, bright, immersive place for indoor exploration and creative play. Inspired by the beloved Frances Hodgson Burnett classic The Secret Garden and composed of elements popular in English garden design, this space includes 10 engaging activity stations designed for our youngest guests—and their adults!—to expand their imaginations and grow their curiosity:
- Green screen photo opportunity
- Gazebo seating area
- Rose trellis pruning activity
- Frog fountain light table
- Hedge maze pathway
- Lawn games play area
- Topiary magnet wall
- “Secret Garden” reading nook

Rules
When visiting, please follow these rules to create a safe environment for all guests to enjoy:
- Use walking feet, inside voices and play with toys and other objects without throwing.
- Be kind and respectful of others.
- Keep shoes on your feet and your feet on the ground. No climbing, please.
- No food or drinks are allowed in this space. Enjoy snacks in the Lievense Indoor Eating Area located on the Courtyard Level of the Welcome Center.
- Always stay with your adult. Have fun exploring together!
