The position of Culinary Support provides support through food production and distribution of products and services for the café and catering operation. They maintain food sanitation, quality standards and effective communication and represent Chefs in their absence and reflect the established standards for quality, productivity, professionalism, and customer service. They must know how to work independently, as well as with effective direction and support for other staff members, volunteers and vendors.
The Cafe Service Team Member is a support position for the Taste of the Gardens Café and responsible for assisting with sales, food production, floor support and customer service through use of the organization’s Guiding Principles. This position is required to work independently as well as with effective direction and support for other staff members, volunteers and vendors.
This position is responsible for setting up, stocking, serving and dismantling catering and or beverage service for the Frederik Meijer Gardens and Sculpture Park Food and Beverage Department.

The Communications department is seeking an energetic, detail-oriented student in his/her junior or senior year to join our team. The unpaid internship is approximately 20–25 hours per week. The intern should be majoring in communications, public relations, marketing, advertising, journalism or related field. An interest in gardening and/or the arts is preferred.

The Development/Membership Intern supports the combined departments’ specific to current projects, primarily but not limited to the Outdoor Summer Concert Series sponsor seating & hospitality areas. This unpaid internship is mainly for the months of May, June, July and August and is approximately 20 hours per week—primarily afternoon and evening hours. Start/end dates and hours per week are negotiable.
The Education Department is looking for a summer Education Intern who will interact with children and adults in a variety of engaging activities throughout the summer. Position starts June 2014. The intern will serve as a teacher’s aide for summer camps by preparing materials, assisting with camp activities, reading stories aloud, helping with drop-off and pick-up, helping with clean-up and doing informal evaluation. They will also help facilitate a variety of interactive activities in the Children’s Garden—discovery carts, art and music interactions, story-time, daily challenges, etc.
The Hospitality and Facility Rental Departments are seeking an intern for the mid-summer through early fall 2014. Interns will assist the Facility Rental Department to sell event spaces, assist with phone inquiries, plan, organize, and coordinate events and catering ranging from corporate, social, trade shows, weddings and concerts. He/she will learn to use hospitality management software; Event Master and Turbo CAD.
